Infographic: Patient Access Process & Metrics
This project visualizes the key components of the patient access workflow at UAB Medicine, highlighting scheduling accuracy, service levels, and performance indicators that drive patient satisfaction. Created in Canva, the infographic simplifies complex operational data into an engaging, easy-to-read design. It demonstrates how clear communication and data visualization can support decision-making, training, and performance improvement in healthcare operations.
Leadership Bootcamp – UAB Access Center
The Leadership Bootcamp was developed to strengthen the confidence, consistency, and effectiveness of Access Center leaders across all levels of management. Designed and led by Director Latrina Hicks, this multi-session program focused on equipping managers and assistant managers with the skills, tools, and mindset needed to lead high-performing, patient-centered teams.

The Bootcamp combined policy review, scenario-based learning, and interactive discussions to reinforce accountability, communication, and decision-making in daily operations. Participants explored real-world leadership challenges such as performance management, coaching and feedback, scheduling accuracy, and employee engagement, aligning every module with UAB Medicine’s core values — Own It, Do Right, Always Care, and Work Together.

By the end of the program, leaders reported greater confidence in enforcing policies, supporting their teams, and fostering a culture of transparency and trust. The Bootcamp not only enhanced leadership capability but also strengthened collaboration, morale, and service excellence across the Access Center.
Knowledge Quest - Training
The Knowledge Quest game is a custom-designed interactive learning module built on the Interacty platform to engage Access Center staff in skill-reinforcement through gamified experiences. The game uses a “quest” storyline approach where participants advance through levels that test their knowledge of scheduling accuracy, policy adherence, and customer-service essentials. As users progress, they encounter a variety of game mechanics—such as trivia quizzes, drag-and-drop matching, timed challenges, and hidden-object puzzles—leveraging Interacty’s flexible game-block editor.

Key features include:
-
Gamified learning paths tied to real operational competencies (e.g., “Unlock the next shift block only if you correctly match the policy scenario”).
-
Immediate feedback and scoring, including timers and leaderboard-style ranking, which drive friendly competition and motivate repeat play.
-
Multi-device compatibility, so team members can access the game from desktop or mobile in remote or in-office settings.
-
Custom branding and themed visuals aligned with UAB Access Center’s culture and mission—making the experience both engaging and organizationally relevant.
-
Data-capture and reporting, enabling leadership to track completion rates, quiz performance metrics, and knowledge gaps to drive targeted training follow-up.
By transforming mandatory training content into an immersive, challenge-based format, Knowledge Quest marries instructional purpose with playful interaction—supporting retention, confidence, and team engagement while remaining aligned with leadership priorities for accuracy, policy enforcement, and service excellence.
Access Activity Site – Games & Challenges
The Access Activity Site was created to boost engagement, morale, and teamwork across the UAB Access Center through interactive, themed challenges and digital games. Designed and curated by Latrina Hicks, the site features creative activities built in Genially, Interacty, and Canva—from trivia, memory match, and escape rooms to recognition-based challenges tied to monthly themes like Above & Beyond and Mission Possible. Each game reinforces collaboration, celebrates achievements, and keeps remote teams connected in a fun, meaningful way.
