Hello

Hello! I’m Latrina Hicks — a passionate leader, lifelong learner, and relentless advocate for meaningful change in both healthcare operations and instructional technology. Based in Hoover, Alabama, I serve as Director of the UAB Access Center, balancing operational excellence with innovation, team development, and a deep commitment to service.

My Story

With a background in building scalable systems — from performance dashboards to interactive training games — I leverage creativity, data-driven insights, and a collaborative mindset to solve complex problems and empower others. I believe strong leadership isn’t just about directing—it’s about listening, designing opportunities, and enabling your best work.

I bring this mindset to every initiative: Whether developing a leadership bootcamp, designing a gamified training module, or partnering with cross-functional stakeholders, I aim to create environments where teams thrive, learning is engaging, and outcomes matter.

My Philosophy in Brief:

  • Lead by example, with compassion and integrity

  • Make learning dynamic, relevant, and inclusive

  • Turn insights into action, and action into impact

  • Celebrate progress and foster culture through connection

On a personal note:
My journey has even included surviving breast cancer — an experience that reshaped my perspective, strengthened my resilience, and deepened my faith and commitment to living with purpose and courage. I’m walking this path with gratitude, focused on “celebrating life” in every season, and eager to channel that energy into meaningful work and service for others.
